How The Five C Theory handles personal information and protects civic participation on this website.
Last updated August 6, 2026
Who we are
The Five C Theory website, fivectheory.com, is operated by Bhai-Dhawa Sesay and published by Leone Connect Publishing. Privacy questions and personal-data requests may be submitted through the website’s privacy-request route or by email at info@fivectheory.com.
Information you choose to provide
The website may receive information that you deliberately submit for publication updates, professional inquiries, event participation, orders, moderated contributions, facilitator interest, corrections, rights requests, or support. We use those records for the purpose you selected and apply the access, retention, editorial, and disclosure boundaries stated on the relevant form.
Comments and public contributions
When comments or other moderated public contributions are enabled, we collect the information submitted in the relevant form, together with the visitor’s IP address and browser user-agent string for site security, abuse prevention, moderation, and spam detection. Please do not place sensitive civic, political, financial, health, identity, or other private information in a public comment.
An anonymized string created from your email address, also called a hash, may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine whether you use it. The Gravatar service privacy policy explains how that service handles information. After a comment is approved, your profile picture may be visible publicly with the comment.
Media uploads
Public visitors are not ordinarily asked to upload media directly to this website. If an approved feature permits an image or file upload, remove embedded location data such as EXIF GPS before submitting it. A file accepted for public display may be downloadable, and embedded metadata may be visible to other visitors.
Cookies and browser storage
The website uses essential first-party cookies or local browser storage for security, saved privacy choices, accessibility preferences, requested currency, commerce continuity, and features you deliberately use. Optional embedded media and Meta measurement remain off until you make the separate choices described in the Cookie Notice.
If commenting is enabled, you may choose to save your name, email address, and website in first-party convenience cookies for up to one year.
If you visit the login page, WordPress sets a temporary cookie to determine whether your browser accepts cookies. It contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, WordPress uses cookies to save login information and screen-display choices. Login cookies generally last for two days, screen-option cookies for one year, and a “Remember Me” login for two weeks. Logging out removes the login cookies.
If you edit or publish an article, WordPress saves an additional cookie containing the post ID. It contains no personal data and expires after one day.
Embedded content from other websites
The website may present Facebook, YouTube, or other external content. Protected media remains a placeholder until you deliberately load that individual item. Loading it establishes a direct connection with the external provider and is treated as visiting that provider for the selected content.
The provider may then receive your IP address, browser or device information, page context, its own cookies, and account state under its privacy terms. It may also monitor your interaction with the loaded content, particularly if you are signed in to that provider.
First-party website measurement
The Five C Theory may use aggregate first-party measurement for page visits and defined website outcomes. It does not store names, email addresses, form messages, query strings, or raw IP addresses in the first-party measurement table. A random page-lifetime token may be hashed on the server to estimate anonymous activity and is not stored in a cookie or persistent browser record.
Global Privacy Control and Do Not Track signals disable this first-party measurement.
Optional Meta measurement
Advertising and Meta measurement begins turned off. It operates only when the integration is active, the page is one of the selected public pages, the page address contains no unapproved query information, your browser sends no Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track signal, and you separately allow Advertising and Meta measurement.
Browser-based measurement sends only PageView and ViewContent events with a broad content description. Meta may receive the public page address, your IP address, browser information, and its own cookie or account context.
When server measurement is separately active, the website may send a matching server copy of the same event through Meta’s Conversions API. The browser and server copies use the same random, one-use event ID so Meta can recognize them as one event.
The server copy may contain the event type and time, the one-use event ID, the public page address without query or tracking details, a broad content description for ViewContent, your validated IP address, and your browser user agent.
The IP address and browser user agent are used to make the current Meta request. The Five C Theory does not add them to its own Meta-event records. The server access token remains in protected hosting configuration.
The server copy does not include Meta cookie identifiers, names, email addresses, telephone numbers, external customer IDs, customer lists, form entries, civic responses, or persistent Five C identifiers. We do not use advanced matching or send lead, registration, subscription, contact, application, purchase, advertising-audience, or automatic-publishing events.
Sensitive civic information
Civic-assessment answers, political views, public-question text, reader stories, case-study material, facilitator applications, private messages, evidence submissions, unpublished editorial records, searches, previews, policy pages, and administration screens are excluded from Meta measurement. A page does not become eligible merely because it is publicly reachable.
Who we share information with
We share personal information only when necessary to provide a requested service, operate and secure the website, process a transaction, deliver communications or materials, prevent abuse, comply with legal obligations, or protect rights. This may involve authorized hosting, email, payment, fulfillment, spam-prevention, analytics, or professional-service providers acting for their defined purposes.
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. The separate Meta disclosure above governs optional browser and server measurement.
How long we retain information
We retain records only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which they were collected, website security and abuse prevention, transaction and accounting requirements, resolving disputes, enforcing agreements, or meeting legal obligations.
Approved comments and their metadata may be retained indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be recognized and moderated consistently.
If user registration is enabled, we store the personal information users provide in their profiles. Users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except their username. Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
Your rights and choices
Depending on your location and applicable law, you may have rights to request access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of, or an export of personal information we hold about you, and to withdraw consent for optional processing. We may retain information when necessary for administration, security, fraud prevention, legal compliance, or recordkeeping.
Use the control at any time to allow or withdraw optional categories. Turning off Advertising and Meta measurement stops future browser and server measurement from The Five C Theory and removes accessible Meta first-party cookies where technically possible. It cannot retrieve information already shared with Meta.
Submit a personal-data request through the website’s privacy-request route or email info@fivectheory.com.
Where information may be processed
Information may be processed by systems and service providers used to host, secure, operate, communicate, process transactions, fulfill requests, and prevent abuse. Some providers may process information outside your country under their own terms and applicable safeguards. Visitor comments may be screened by an automated spam-detection service.
